Amina Gilbert (she/they) is a lighting designer, director, and performer based in Chicago and local to Colorado.
She is inspired to reach into the depths of nuanced human experience by guiding her work with joyful freedom, unencumbered expression, an obsession with challenge, and queer love. She believes theatre cannot be made without love and risk. She finds inspiration in the ocean, music her parents showed her as a child, and the way her friends dance when they think she’s not paying attention.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Honors program at Columbia College Chicago in 2023 with a BA in Theatre Arts with concentrations in lighting design and directing.
